Hiking the Shawangunk Ridge.
Ryan and I sort of went on a spontaneous 5 mile hike yesterday. We were in the Catskill region and decided to check out the Mohonk preserve, which included the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge which is part of the Catskill mountains. We were expecting to have a fun day outdoors, take some pretty pictures, and get some fresh air…what we weren’t expecting was to see such breathtaking views, and such awe-inspiring rock formation.
The Ridge is located just West of New Paltz, and there are many trails at all difficulty levels. We chose one of the easier hikes, and were glad we did because after walking 5-miles, we were beat. It’s between 1.5 and 2 hours out of the city, and I highly recommend it as a day-trip, it’s worth it!
*Unfortunately my computer is broken and I can’t upload my pictures from this weekend, so this image that I found from google images will have to suffice.
